Greetings
Brother/Sister Letter Carrier: In less than 100 days from now Letter
Carriers will once again be heading to the polls to elect those friends in
congress who will best represent our interests. It is time to become directly
involved in making sure that the wages and benefits your years of service
have earned continue. Some Letter Carriers question our
involvement in politics. Let’s be clear.
What happens in the halls of congress directly affects the quality of
life you have achieved through your careers with the Postal Service. Getting
on board by donating to COLCPE and joining the E-Activist network are quick and easy
ways to ensure your future. For over 100 years, the National
Association of Letter Carriers has fought successfully to improve and
preserve the wages, benefits and working conditions for all active and
retired Letter Carriers. Currently, the NALC is leading a broad coalition of
mailers, employee groups and postal vendors whose goal it is to strengthen
the long-term viability of universal postal services. All of this work is
made possible through donations to COLCPE, our political action committee,
and the E-Activist network. The E-Activist Network allows the
NALC to contact you at a moments notice by e-mail when an issue arises in
Congress that directly impacts your life as a Letter Carrier or Retiree.
Acting on an issue is as easy as forwarding the message onto your
Congressional or Senate representative, or crafting your own letter to fax or
mail, outlining our position on the topic. It takes minutes either way.
Signing up for this is easy and all information provided is held strictly
confidential. COLCPE operates through voluntary
contributions, not by Union dues. Through COLCPE, the NALC targets
congressional and senate campaigns to help leaders, of any political party,
that will support our fight to protect our jobs. You can make direct
contributions or donations to the fund by automatic payroll deductions using
Postal EASE, directly from an annuity for retired members, or monthly from
your bank account via an electronic fund transfer. For as little as $2.50 per week (less
than a specialty cup of coffee) you can share in the sacrifice and make a
difference in your future. So little sacrifice for so much common good, Gimme
five, sign up today. Joseph Henschen COLCPE Coordinator, First Vice President, Branch 1477, NALC-AFL/CIO |
